Remote positions at the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) require quarterly in-person meetings at our office location in Arlington, VA. IHS employees are required to visit the office for a minimum of two weeks per year.
This internship will start on May 19, 2025, and end on August 22, 2025 (start and end dates are flexible with respect to the semester schedules). Work schedule will be up to 25 hours weekly.
Job Summary: The Marketing Intern will assist in running marketing campaigns based on market and audience research, as well as creating and updating content that promotes academic events and funding opportunities to growing audiences of donors, faculty, and graduate students. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Marketing Intern will contribute to the success of marketing campaigns by collaborating in the development, execution, and analysis of marketing strategies and related deliverables.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Duties/Responsibilities: - Perform website updates (add/update events, blog posts, etc.).
- Support cross-functional teams with event and funding program marketing.
- Pitch, create, and launch social media content.
- Handle some design work on digital ads.
- Assist with marketing emails.
Required Skills/Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field (or possess equivalent experience).
- Successful completion of introductory marketing/communications/equivalent courses.
- Understanding of basic marketing principles and best practices.
- Experience with social media platforms such as X (Twitter), Meta, and LinkedIn.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic experience editing blog posts and landing pages in WordPress is required.
- Experience in graphic design and understanding of design principles is preferred.
- Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style is a bonus.
