JOB TITLE: MARKETING INTERN

Reports To: Parks & Recreation Executive Director

Type: Seasonal/Temporary (with opportunity to become full-time)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Candidate should have completed or be in the process of completing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field. Should have experience in content development, photography, video, rich media, landing pages, etc.

SUMMARY

Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation is seeking a Marketing Intern to create content and help share information about programs and events through various forms of media. MBCPR serves over 30,000 children and adults each year and we are dedicated to providing new and engaging events and activities. We need an individual motivated to tell our story and engage new and existing community members. This is a 12-week paid internship with potential full time employment opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Understanding of social media trends, tools, and best practices
  • Writing skills with the ability to create informative articles and posts.
  • Proficiency in photography and video editing.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Responsible individual with sound judgement.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment
  • Team player who works well in team setting and individually
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Holds a current driver's license and can successfully complete a background check.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES include the following:
  • Provide fresh and timely social media content.
  • Engage social media users to offer a fan-engagement experience.
  • Creates strategy to increase engagement amongst followers.
  • Assist with growing overall social media presence via development of new media or strategies.
  • Collect statistics on social media accounts and analyze to establish trends.
  • Assist with organizational graphics.
  • Provide live content via social media.
  • Contributes to the execution of marketing plans
  • Solid photography, videography and editing skills
  • Create and edit engaging social media content with a heavy focus on reels.
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media trends.
  • Capture content to establish and organize a library of social video content.
  • Create relevant video content for social media platforms, websites, and various marketing campaigns, including longer-form videos, short social clips, gifs, animations, and overall visual content to support various campaigns
  • Monitor social media channels, consult staff and respond to comments and messages as appropriate.
  • Attend team meetings, ask relevant questions, provide marketing ideas and suggestions.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

Completes daily duties with efficiency and minimal supervision. Provides reports to the team weekly or as required. Shows willingness and initiative to share the MBCPR story and increase engagement through marketing activities

COMMUNICATION - VERBAL AND WRITTEN

A clear communicator who shares information with supervisor, team-members, and others within the organization to contribute to the effective operation of the whole organization. Must demonstrate the ability to work under pressure in a pleasant and courteous manner, handle differences of opinion in a businesslike fashion, follow instructions conscientiously, and function as a team member, helping the group effort. Must communicate expectations and procedures clearly to team members to maintain smooth operations.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES, REQUIREMENTS, VISUAL ACUITY, AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work will occur indoors and out in a variety of conditions and temperature ranges. Tasks require standing for long periods of time, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects that weigh up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Work is high paced at times, must be able to perform in a busy environment. Physical demands listed here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform essential job functions.   • Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
