Marketing & Event Coordinator:

Working under the general direction of the Venue and Special Events Manager, promotes, develops, and implements marketing efforts to increase utilization and revenue generation for all County Parks and Recreation programs and facilities. Implements and maintains digital and print communication mediums for all Park and Recreation programs, parks, conservation areas, facilities, and events. Coordinates all details required to provide interdepartmental coordination toward the delivery of quality special events for the benefit of the public. Assists with the development of marketing initiatives and sponsorship opportunities for all County recreational facilities. Assists Department staff with planning, coordinating, implementing, and advertising programs and activities. Assists the County Information Technology Department with updating information and content development for the Parks, Recreation & Conservation Department webpage.

Essential Job Duties
  • Promote and develop marketing strategies to increase public utilization and revenue for County Parks and Recreation programs, facilities, and events.
  • Implement and manage digital and print communication materials for parks and conservation facilities, recreational programs, and special events.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental efforts to ensure the successful planning and execution of department special events.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of marketing campaigns for County recreational facilities and venues.
  • Support Parks and Recreation staff in planning, coordinating, implementing, and advertising various programs and activities.
  • Collaborate with the County Information Technology Department to update and develop content for the Parks, Recreation & Conservation Department's website.
  • Coordinate with Parks and Recreation staff to ensure effective event and program public awareness and educational campaigns to raise public awareness and engage the community in the Department's programs, facilities, and events.
Typical Requirements
Education/Experience:

Associate's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business, or an equivalent combination of formal education and related working experience. Minimum 2 years related working experience in marketing and event promotion, planning, and implementation. Bachelor's degree preferred.
A portfolio that includes writing samples and graphic design capability will be required and is encouraged to be uploaded with the completed job application.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
  • Certified crowd manager preferred.
  • Certified Parks & Recreation Professional preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
  • Knowledge of Park and Recreation programs and activities, including an understanding of their community benefits and operational needs.
  • Knowledge of current digital technologies and tools used in marketing and communications.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and best practices for content development, engagement, and analytics.
  • Skill in developing and managing promotional content for digital communications, including social media, email marketing, mobile apps, and other electronic media tools.
  • Skill in using graphic design and marketing software, such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, and Constant Contact. Civic Rec experience preferred.
  • Skill in written and verbal communication, including the ability to compose reports, correspondence, and make public presentations.
  • Skill in soliciting and coordinating with vendors, performers, and sponsors to support event planning and implementation.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, partners, and the general public.
  • Ability to manage timelines, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and direct events while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to adapt to both indoor and outdoor work environments, including varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and engage with diverse audiences to promote programs and events.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
