POSITION SUMMARY

We are growing our organizational scope. This is a new role and subject to evolution as we build out our sales team.

The Marketing Coordinator (MC) reports to the Director of Business Development (DBD) and supports partner program promotion, sales, and brand elevation through targeted marketing efforts. Primary goals:
  • Primary: Develop and execute promotional campaigns and collateral.
  • Secondary: Manage and grow VOBS' social media engagement.
  • Tertiary: Oversee marketing assets and coordinate with Outward Bound USA.
The MC creates and executes sales content, messaging, and campaigns in collaboration with the sales team. They co-manage VOBS social media for sales, fundraising and brand elevation, managing and developing collateral assets (photos, videos, testimonials, blogs, presentations), coordinating vendors and cooperating with the Outward Bound USA (OBUSA) marketing team. This role also supports website updates and value proposition, and brand consistency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Business Marketing (70%)
  • Develop and execute compelling sales and marketing content to support business strategy and growth.
  • Execute on marketing projects to ensure timely and successful completion.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to align on priorities, targets, and messaging.
  • Coordinate with Outward Bound USA to amplify sales and brand reach; maintain awareness of Outward Bound USA's tech stack, optimize messaging tools and platforms.
  • Edit and proofread all content for clarity, effectiveness, and brand consistency.
  • Secure and/or oversee vendor projects such as video production and impact reports.
  • Collaborate with VOBS sales, development and admissions teams to coordinate messaging calendars, projects and goals.
  • Track, analyze, and report on campaign success.
  • Leverage AI to optimize brand, refine marketing targets and enhance content.
  • Work with DBD and Development team to maintain a current VOBS Brand Code (Primal Branding approach).
Social Platform Management (15%)
  • Co-manage and execute VOBS social media calendar in collaboration with Development.
  • Create and publish engaging content to elevate the brand, drive engagement and build community.
  • Support sales, admissions and other organizational needs with social media content.
  • Track and report on social media engagement and impact.
Asset Management (15%)
  • Curate, develop, and maintain VOBS collateral assets-including impact stories, photos, videos, and testimonials-to align with sales, fundraising, and organizational value propositions.
  • Identify asset gaps and opportunities; lead ongoing content development in collaboration with sales, fundraising, and admissions teams.
  • Distribute marketing assets as needed across departments to support outreach, engagement, and brand consistency.
  • Co-manage communications platforms, contact databases, and website updates in partnership with sales and development teams.
  • Represent VOBS marketing priorities and needs in national coordination meetings with Outward Bound USA.
Safety & Risk Management (As assigned)
  • Participate in Emergency Response Plan (ERP) training and fulfill assigned roles.
  • While rare, activation of VOBS ERP may require staff to work extended hours during the incident, sometimes in difficult or uncomfortable environments.
  • Support safety management by reporting concerns to HR or the Director of Programs & Safety.

  • Graphic & Digital Communication - Experience with Canva, Adobe Suite, Constant Contact, and social media platform experience.
  • Administration & Management - CRM database management, Microsoft/Google Suite proficiency, goal tracking, and organizational effectiveness.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1+ year of experience (internships count) in a marketing or messaging function
  • Digital design/art or creative background a plus
  • Writing or communications experience
  • Interest in social community building
WORK CONDITIONS / LOCATION
  • Hybrid role; opportunity to work remotely 2 days per week. Our office is located in St. Paul, MN.
  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Work is primarily indoors, with occasional need to travel and/or participate in events.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Events may have excessive noise and/or require working in close proximity to others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard for prolonged periods.
  • Must occasionally be able to lift or carry 15 pounds.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange ideas with others accurately and concisely.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to operate a computer, assess and design content and evaluate content for accuracy, effectiveness and impact.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. $52,000 - $63,000 per year.

VOBS offers a competitive benefits package, including employer sponsored health insurance, a dental and vision plan, STD, LTD and a 403(b) retirement plan with 2% match. Paid time off including, vacation, sick, holidays.

In the interest of transparency and pay equity across our team, a candidate with the minimum experience can expect to be offered in the lower half of the range.
