MARKETING COORDINATOR

Maymont is a 100-acre historic estate and park, located in Richmond, Virginia, with many unique experiences for all to enjoy, including the historic Maymont Mansion, The Robins Nature Center, arboretum, formal gardens, and habitats for native Virginia wildlife and farm animals. Since 1975, Maymont has been maintained and operated by the nonprofit Maymont Foundation, committed to creating experiences that delight, educate and inspire its guests.

The Maymont Foundation is seeking a Marketing Coordinator who is responsible for providing planning, administrative and production support for a variety of marketing campaigns with the goal of expanding audiences and enhancing visibility with current and potential members, guests and donors. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Brand & Creative Marketing.

Essential Functions:
  • Works with the marketing team and other staff across the foundation to plan and produce marketing communications materials and campaigns; Collaborates on projects with signage companies, media outlets, sponsors, other contractors and external partners
  • Provides timelines and project management through Maymont's project management platform
  • Supports marketing team through basic graphic design, website, social media and digital communications, and content creation as needed
  • Maintains, communicates milestones and tracks deadlines for content planning calendar for all communications initiatives, including events, educational and cultural programs, donor communications and solicitations; Marketing channels include media releases, website content, email, social media, signage, advertising, earned media, constituent communications, and other branding and marketing collateral
  • Assists with planning and tracking of the annual marketing budget and invoicing processes
  • Tracks and synthesizes data and produce regular marketing metrics reports
  • Collaborates with other members of the Maymont team to produce campaign and activity performance analysis
  • Represents Maymont during on-site and off-site events, programs, marketing and tourism functions
  • Provides on-site support (marketing communications or other duties) at special events, typically held on nights or weekends
  • Assists with other duties and tasks as assigned
Competencies:
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Experience using project management and ticketing platforms
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, desktop publishing and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with WordPress, Asana, MailChimp and/or Sprout Social preferred
  • Understanding of basic graphic design principles preferred
  • Skilled writer capable of preparing and reviewing effective, creative and professional copy for various publications and media
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with a high level of motivation and initiative, good judgement and a positive attitude
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects
  • Must be a team player who is flexible and able to work collaboratively and cross-departmentally with confidential information
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Valid driver's license required with reliable transportation to and from Maymont
Education and Experience:
  • 1-2 years of experience in a marketing or communications role, preferably with non-profit, arts related or cultural institutions, or at a marketing agency
  • Working knowledge of Maymont and the greater Richmond region
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking and talking for extended periods
  • Frequent climbing, bending, stooping and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work inside and outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to respond to needs and be on site for occasional nights and weekends
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
