The responsibility of the Category Marketing team is to develop long and short-term strategy and business positions for NAPA's merchandise departments. This position will report to the Category Marketing Manager and help support the strategic category plan and financial objectives of assigned category group by assisting with planning, communication, and measurement of strategic marketing programs including promotional activity across all channels, supplier initiatives, and new product introductions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Documentation and communication of promotional planning calendar, by category and by supplier, including all channels, all scheduled promotions and ad-hoc promotions
  • Ongoing maintenance of promotional planning calendar, ensuring it is up-to-date at all times
  • Participate in strategic updates with suppliers on NAPA overall marketing initiatives
  • Liaise with assigned suppliers to ensure all critical milestones are met
  • Activate new suppliers cross functionally within the organization, including communication to the field
  • Work with category team to generate incremental marketing dollars from supplier marketing teams
  • Prepare all required documentation for promotional submissions, ensuring all critical timelines are met, including completion of all required templates, such as Detail Sheets
  • Participate in key milestone meetings associated with all promotional activities
  • Ensure all inventory planning is consistent with forecasted needs and proactively work cross functionally with the supply chain team to ensure seamless execution
  • Communicate all promotions to the broader field network, via bulletins and other supporting materials
  • Project Management: Serve as primary liaison between Category team and other internal and external partners
  • Conduct post implementation analysis, including customer, operational and financial responses to all promotional activities, with a view to making recommendations for future improvement
  • Collaborative: Ability to prioritize needs across multiple stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field is a plus
  • Intermediate to advanced competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Data-driven mindset and ability to leverage analysis to make business recommendations
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with cross functional departments and colleagues
  • Ability to problem solve, analyze data, and perform critical thinking
  • Highly organized and able to define and sequence strategic priorities
  • Exceptional follow up and attention for detail
