WSB's Alumni Relations (AR) team creates and delivers engagement, communications, and philanthropic opportunities to build affinity and connection among the school's alumni community. The team leverages insights collected regularly from our alumni to identify target audiences, tailor our storytelling, and build programming to support our alumni and enhance the Business Badger network.
From coordinating logistics to executing marketing tactics, the Marketing and Event Specialist will work in partnership with various teams to promote and produce targeted events and engagement opportunities that align with WSB's goals for growing industry relations and promoting lifelong learning. This role will collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality, impactful experiences. This role will be responsible for all aspects of event logistics, from venue selection and contract negotiation to vendor management and marketing content development. They will troubleshoot and resolve event-related issues with professionalism to ensure seamless execution. They will develop marketing copy and implement multichannel marketing strategies, including both print and digital channels.
This role will help WSB build affinity with target alumni and industry audiences. The ideal candidate will bring fresh, creative marketing ideas and employ innovative tactics beyond traditional emails and social media to drive desired actions by our target audiences. With expertise in event marketing, project management, and cross-functional collaboration, they will stay ahead of trends and continuously refine marketing strategies to enhance engagement with our events, programs, and initiatives.
A successful candidate will be creative in both marketing and event design, exploring innovative formats to elevate the experience for our alumni. They will oversee the entire event planning process, managing timelines, budgets, and stakeholder coordination to achieve successful outcomes.
The Marketing and Event Specialist will report to the Associate Director on our hybrid team working 40% in person and 60% remotely. On-site event management will be required as needed, which may include working nights, weekends, and some out-of-state travel. A successful candidate will be an organized self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment. Excellent communication skills, a knack for creative problem solving, and strong project management capabilities are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
Executes marketing strategies for alumni programs, organizes events and analyzes data to ensure alumni relations goals are being achieved.
- 60% Leads the development, production, and dissemination of communication and branding strategies and materials for the unit
- 30% Plans and leads the implementation of major alumni events, volunteer committees, and activities in alignment with strategic initiatives and objectives
- 5% Serves as a unit liaison for internal and external stakeholders, answers questions, and provides information about established programs based on set material or standards
- 5% Identifies data trends, errors, and insufficient data; and reports variances according to established policies and procedures

Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, communications, non-profit management, or related field
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in event or engagement marketing
- Minimum 3 years of experience in event planning and execution
Preferred:
- A strong ability to manage complex projects and deliver results
- Higher education or nonprofit experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to craft engaging content and effectively engage diverse stakeholders
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and budgets efficiently
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze and leverage insights to optimize event and marketing strategies
- Strong collaboration and facilitation skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively across departments and with external stakeholders
