Position Overview The Marketing and Communications Manager at CivicsEDU is a key volunteer leadership role responsible for shaping the organization's public image and outreach efforts. This individual will develop and execute strategic marketing initiatives, manage digital communications, and craft compelling content to engage diverse audiences. By leveraging social media, email campaigns, press relations, and multimedia storytelling, the Marketing and Communications Manager will enhance CivicsEDU's visibility and impact in civic education.
Key Responsibilities - Develop and execute marketing strategies to enhance CivicsEDU's brand awareness and public engagement.
- Manage and create content for social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, and other communication channels.
- Oversee the organization's website content and ensure messaging aligns with CivicsEDU's mission and initiatives.
- Design promotional materials, infographics, and digital campaigns to support program outreach.
- Collaborate with internal teams to promote events, research publications, and educational programs.
- Cultivate relationships with media outlets, influencers, and community partners to expand CivicsEDU's reach.
- Monitor analytics and engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of marketing efforts.
- Ensure all communications are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with CivicsEDU's commitment to civic literacy and equity.
Time Commitment As a volunteer organization, we hold biweekly staff meetings lasting approximately 2 hours each. While there are no fixed work hours, we encourage you to dedicate available time between these meetings to projects relevant to your role. It is highly recommended that the selected candidate retain their current employment arrangement while offering their services to CivicsEDU.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field is desirable; students with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate complex civic topics effectively.
- Experience managing social media accounts, email marketing, and content creation.
- Knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) is a plus.
- Ability to track analytics and adjust marketing strategies accordingly.
- Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Passion for civic education, democracy, and community engagement.
- Preference will be given to candidates that reside within the Charlotte metropolitan area.
