Black River Systems Company, a small, established research-oriented engineering firm headquartered in Utica, NY, is looking for a Manufacturing Technician. We are looking for someone who can assist our current Lab Technician in a variety of operations-oriented tasks for New Products. This includes inventory, assembly, testing, shipping, troubleshooting and support. This multi-faceted role will be critical in the launch of new products and is supported by the current Lab Technician and Engineering teams. This candidate will assist the current Lab Technician design and develop practices and protocols associated with software and electronic equipment. The ability to demonstrate these skills is important and will be a part of the interview process. Position Responsibilities:
• Support Inventory Accounting (In-Bound, Out-Bound, Storage, Tracking, Auditing of physical inventory items in the warehouse and laboratory).
• Perform assembly of electronic systems following schematics, drawings, assembly instructions.
• Perform testing of electronic systems following schematics, drawings, and test protocols.
• Perform system checkout, packaging, and preparation for shipment to customers.
• Support Customer Service in troubleshooting, testing, simulation of field errors for resolution, this will be done with the current Lab Technician and Engineering teams' oversight and support.
• Support the growth of the laboratory and manufacturing area as necessary.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment as necessary.
• Report status electronically into MRP system and work to resolve issues as they arise.
Position Requirements:
• This is an on-site, full time, in-person position at Black River's Utica, NY facility.
• Associate's degree in electrical engineering technology or related field and industry experience doing similar work is required.
• 2+ years' experience with inventory control, manufacturing, assembly, test, packaging and/or troubleshooting of electrical products or systems.
• The ability to lift and handle up to 40 pounds of materials, and the physical ability to bend, stoop and stretch as required for placement and retrieval of materials or equipment on carts and shelving.
• Be well-organized and pay close attention to details (testing, assembly order of operations, troubleshooting, etc.)
• Ability to read, write, and understand policies and procedures and computer-generated reports.
• Adherence to all safety standards set by company and regulatory agencies.
• Self-motivated and capable of performing duties with limited supervision.
• Must be able to work in a team environment and have good communication skills.
• US citizenship - must have or be eligible for a Department of Defense security clearance.
