The Manufacturing Operator 1 is responsible for executing production operations for chemical manufacturing. This role includes safely operating process equipment, monitoring chemical reactions, documenting activities according to SOPs, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Candidates must demonstrate critical thinking, attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset.
- Operate vessels, tanks, dryers, glassware, and additional processing equipment
- Charge solids, liquids, and gases to equipment according to protocols
- Monitor chemical reactions via lab instruments and Distributed Control System (DCS)
- Perform filtration, distillation, extractions, recrystallizations to isolate and purify product
- Neutralize and dispose of by-products and residues safely
- Follow ISO, cGMP, MPRs, and Change Control protocols
- Complete in-process analytical testing and interpret results
- Document all work per Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
- Report process status and escalate issues to supervisor
- Maintain inventory of consumables and equipment
- Support 5S, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Operate forklifts, pallet trucks, and other manual equipment
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions and complete safety reports
- Perform SAP transactions related to materials and equipment
- Participate in incident investigations, training, and safety meetings
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, wet/humid conditions, extreme temperatures, vapors, and chemicals
- PPE provided (eg, hard hats, gloves, safety shoes, chemical-resistant suits)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch or crawl for extended periods
- Must lift/move up to 50 lbs unassisted and more with assistance
- Must push/pull heavy materials
- Requires good vision (color, distance, peripheral, depth, and focus adjustment)
- Uses standard lab and office equipment (computers, monitors, phones)
? Candidate Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
Preferred Qualifications:
- AS in Chemistry or related science, or 2 years of college-level chemistry
- 1-2 years of experience in a chemistry-related environment
- Mechanical aptitude and basic mathematical skills
- Ability to understand chemical hazards and reactions
- Experience operating lab or processing equipment, hand tools, and forklifts
- Familiarity with ISO and quality systems
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Forklift use required
- Respirator use required (must be clean-shaven)
- Standard physical exam required
- PPE must be worn as required
- Exposure to chemicals/substances present
- Heavy lifting required
