About the Opportunity
As Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, you will report directly to the Plant Manager and lead a team of eight direct reports. You will play a crucial role in enhancing manufacturing operations, optimizing machine efficiency, improving product quality, and driving cost reduction initiatives. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering continuous improvement and maintaining industry-leading standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead & mentor the Manufacturing Engineering team to develop innovative process improvements.
- Optimize manufacturing efficiency through advanced process development and machine characterization.
- Establish & refine labor standards to maximize productivity and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to implement high-quality engineering solutions.
- Develop cost-reduction strategies while ensuring superior product quality.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEEE, UL, AEIC, NEC, ASTM, ISO 9000).
- Promote safety, environmental awareness, and regulatory adherence in all manufacturing processes.
- Utilize data-driven insights & SPC methodologies to enhance operational performance.
- Represent the manufacturing division during plant tours and customer visits.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with deep expertise in manufacturing engineering and a track record of driving process improvements. We're looking for someone with:
10+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, with at least 5-10 years in management.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent experience in medium/heavy manufacturing).
Strong leadership & interpersonal skills to engage effectively across all levels.
Cable manufacturing experience is a plus / Extrusion experience is a must.
Systems-oriented mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Proficiency in PC-based tools for analysis, reporting, and communication.
Knowledge of metrology, thermoplastics, thermosets, and process improvement methodologies.
Expertise in manufacturing safety, environmental regulations, and quality systems.
Goal-oriented mindset with a drive for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
