The Manufacturing Engineer Site Lead manages projects and provides direction to others Manufacturing Engineers in a manner that ensures all safety, quality, delivery, and cost (efficiency and continuous improvement) objectives are achieved. Responsible for budget controls, tooling design and implementation, in a manner that supports and benefits production output.

  • Manages projects and provides direction to others Manufacturing Engineers in a manner that ensures all safety, quality, delivery, and cost (efficiency and continuous improvement) objectives are achieved. Responsible for budget controls, tooling design and implementation, in a manner that supports and benefits production output.
  • Manages all resources in a harmonious manner that promotes and cultivates an atmosphere that emphasizes teamwork, respect, accountability, and a desire to improve all Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives.
  • Ensures all Safety standards, process and procedures are followed, work directly with Safety Compliance Manager as needed to improve existing program/procedures to ensure all Safety objectives are regularly exceeded.
  • Ensures all Quality standards, process and procedures are followed, works directly with Quality and Engineering Departments as needed to improve existing program/procedures to ensure all Quality objectives are regularly exceeded.
  • Ensures on-time delivery to all internal and external customers.
  • Assesses cost effectiveness and feasibility of manufacturing processes; makes and implements recommendations to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Develops, fosters, and leads/mentors team to achieve production results. Provide guidance to other manufacturing engineers.
  • Lead work teams to implement lean manufacturing concepts like Kanban, Kaizen, SMED and 5S for manufacturing improvements.
  • Fully understands personal accountability and responsibility and holds own self to that standard.
  • Position has both responsibility and accountability for individually assigned projects, assignments, as well as ability to lead team projects and assignments.
  • It is the expectation of the company that Manufacturing Engineer Site Lead will accomplish these goals by working to a high ethical standard and consistently complying with all company policies, work rules, Union Contractual agreements, and applicable laws with little direct supervision.
  • Design tools and dies in Solid Edge CAD software for sheet metal parts manufacturing including tool material selection, stress, and vibration analysis. Develop and optimize tool design to reduce design lead time and manufacturing complexity using design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Evaluate existing tools and dies for improvement and tool life estimates. Redesign as required to improve performance and quality & provide retraining of operators as needed.
  • Design low cost automation systems including selection of electrical controls, including sensors, solenoids, pneumatics and PLC programs.
  • Perform theoretical analysis and simulation of manufacturing processes, value stream mapping, FMEA and quantify areas of improvement for justification of projects. Design and manage experiments to validate theoretical analysis. Create project plans, timelines, and presentations supporting M.E. Projects.
  • Write equipment specifications for acquisitions of new equipment. Write qualification plans and procedures for final acceptance of equipment and adherence to equipment specifications using statistical methods and design of experiments methodology.
  • Perform installation and commissioning of tools, dies & other equipment.
  • Review new and existing technical bulletins and specifications, for possible applications in plant and make recommendations on the use of acceptable ideas and concepts.
  • Participate in quality and safety audits to ensure conformity to ISO and OSHA regulations.
  • Analyze and recommend plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Participate in Design Review meetings with Product and Design Engineers.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, escalating manufacturing and delivery issues as appropriate.
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Other tasks/projects/functions as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Masters Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • 8+ years of related work experience.
  • Microsoft Office-Access, Excel, Word,
  • Print interpretation including GD&T
  • Engineering Principles
  • Ability to travel (domestic and internationally).
