The MFG Engineer will lead all manufacturing engineering, encompassing capital and process development projects, while providing superior technical knowledge. Responsible for providing coordination, outstanding people skills and management to a team of manufacturing engineers and maintenance leadership. Responsible for installation, maintenance and improvement of production lines, managing contractors and ensuring that Environmental, Health and Safety requirements are adhered to at all times. The role has full budgetary responsibility. Implement and manage continuous improvement principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes. Responsible for the advancement of a robust TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) program.


The successful incumbent in this role will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive roadmap to implement a best-in-class maintenance management system across multiple manufacturing operations with emphasis on preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and capital projects. Proven work history rolling out maintenance management systems in operations is essential.


Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


  • Demonstrated ability to be a working leader by managing engineering projects while providing day to day technical support for all plant operations.
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them.
  • Assess plant capital equipment and develop proposals to optimize the equipment and/or process.
  • Initiate and implement continual process improvement activities through Kaizen events and Lean Manufacturing designed to optimize process efficiency, reduce costs and downtime.
  • Develop capital budgets and support the maintenance/plant leadership to create budgets for the annual business plan.
  • Oversee the project implementation to ensure all projects are completed on time and on budget with quality and customer satisfaction (internal).
  • Provide support and prioritize tasks as necessary for the engineering and maintenance team.
  • Design and/or debug manufacturing test fixtures and train manufacturing staff on use.
  • Working with Quality and Operations to determine root cause through failure investigation, and develop and implement corrective and preventative action, as required.
  • Investigate, test and qualify new equipment to improve plant operations.
  • Work closely with Quality and Operations on product and process changes to manufacturing.
  • Help develop production trial, test plans, and work instructions.
  • Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPI's) for each area of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the selection, development, performance appraisal, merit recommendation, and promotion of department staff.

Requirements


  • A four-year college degree in electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial engineering and a minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment, including a minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
  • JD Edwards Oracle experience preferred.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proficiency in understanding product specifications, test specifications, process specifications.
  • Proven ability to drive quality and productivity improvements.
  • Experience with defined process improvement techniques (i.e.; Lean, Six-Sigma).
  • Excellent skills in cGMP documentation, writing policies and procedures, protocols, work instructions, inspection requirements, etc.
