As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the qualification and service of production equipment. This role manages equipment and team member maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability for injection molding manufacturing of medical device components.
General Duties (includes but not limited to):
- Oversee daily maintenance activities, including scheduled inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting of injection molding machines, ancillary equipment, and support systems.
- Coordinate with maintenance technicians to address equipment downtime, minimize production disruptions, and ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues.
- Continuously improve preventive maintenance program.
- Maintain ISO 13485 compliance for equipment maintenance logs, equipment qualification, and risk management documentation.
- Supervise maintenance personnel, assign tasks, and provide technical guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective execution of maintenance activities.
- Conduct training programs for maintenance technicians and promote adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Manage inventory and budget equipment and maintenance supplies.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, standardize maintenance procedures, and optimize equipment reliability and performance.
Physical Requirements:
- Is expected to sit, walk, or stand for 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to communicate verbally, be able to hear, and have clear and corrected vision for tasks that involve reading, writing, and working with small details.
- Have physical agility for tasks that involve bending, kneeling, or reaching.
- Have precise hand-eye coordination for tasks that involve handling small objects, tools, or machinery.
- Must be able to lift/move 30-50 lbs.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Degree Required.
- 5-7 years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair, preferably in a manufacturing environment with injection molding equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or leadership role, overseeing maintenance teams and managing maintenance schedules and priorities.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and related machinery.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems commonly found in injection molding equipment.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices, predictive maintenance techniques, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and standards governing equipment maintenance and safety in medical device manufacturing, including FDA regulations and ISO 13485 quality management systems.
- Experience in implementing and enforcing safety protocols, equipment inspections, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Experience with CMMS (MaintainX preferred)
Certifications (preferred):
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP)
- Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM)
Skills:
- Strong leadership abilities with experience in supervising and mentoring maintenance technicians and mechanics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate maintenance activities, prioritize tasks, and provide guidance to team members.
- Ability to effectively manage resources, allocate manpower, and maintain a safe and productive work environment.
