Aegis is proud to partner with a thriving manufacturer in Des Plaines, IL looking for a hands on Manufacturing Engineer to join the team. If you are passionate about process improvement and opportunities for growth - this is the position for you. This position is ideal for someone with 5+ years in a continuous improvement role in a true production environment.



What We're Looking For:
Must Haves:

  • 3 - 5+ years of experience in a continuous improvement-focused role within a production/manufacturing environment .

  • Strong background in Lean Manufacturing , CI , or Process Engineering .

  • Proven ability to identify, lead, and execute process improvements independently.

  • Experience with automation equipment (mechanical/electrical systems) and a love of being hands-on.

  • Excellent communication skills -you proactively update stakeholders and confidently present findings or concerns.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (strongly preferred).

Preferred:

  • CAPEX project experience (commissioning, implementing, troubleshooting equipment).

  • Lean Six Sigma certification .

  • Background in plastics manufacturing (injection molding or extrusion), though candidates from other production environments (CPG, food, automotive, etc.) are welcome.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the sole Manufacturing Engineer across two facilities.

    • Lead lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and cost reduction.

    • Work closely with the Plant Manager and other leaders to proactively identify issues and implement solutions.

    • Support and help implement new automation equipment, including a new extrusion line and additional CAPEX projects.

    • Partner with cross-functional teams on ERP implementation (IFS), focusing on process data.

    • Optimize new product setup times and integrate appropriate process monitoring systems.

    • Be a daily presence on the production floor, working alongside technicians, operators, and supervisors.
