Job Summary

A prestigious global law firm is seeking a Managing eFiling Specialist to join their California office. The firm is renowned for advising clients on significant transactions and disputes, employing innovative legal strategies tailored to each unique matter. You will collaborate closely with the Managing Attorney and Litigation Docket Supervisor to develop best practices for electronic filing and docketing. This role involves overseeing daily activities in the Managing Attorney's Office, including filing and serving court documents, maintaining databases, processing court documents, checking dockets for updates, calculating deadlines, and communicating with court personnel and attorneys regarding proper filing procedures.

Locations:

Must report to one of the following offices: Century City , Los Angeles , Orange County , Palo Alto , San Francisco

Responsibilities

  • Review court documents for accuracy, form, and procedural compliance.

  • Perform legal research to advise litigators on procedural matters and ensure compliance with court rules.

  • Provide procedural guidance and advice to lawyers regarding motion practice, policy, and procedure in California State and Federal Courts.

  • Assist with service of process issues, including engaging process servers.

  • Review new cases and rule changes to keep lawyers informed of recent developments under CA state rules, FRCP, and FRAP.

  • Handle electronic case filings via CM/ECF and CA state court systems, as well as hard copy filings and document retrieval.

  • Search and extract information from court-related databases, websites, and relevant docketing and calendaring applications, including PACER, Bloomberg Law, CourtAlert, and Westlaw.

  • Screen and review incoming court documents and office correspondence to calculate and calendar relevant deadlines using the firm's docketing system.

  • Assist with quality control of docket and calendar entries.

  • Manage workflow in the Managing Attorney's Office.

  • Ensure timely notification of filing deadlines and court appearances to lawyers.

  • Collect, maintain, and update attorney information, such as bar admissions and e-filing credentials.

  • Assist with department projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising members of a Managing Attorney/Clerk's Office at a large law firm preferred.

  • Significant contact with lawyers, court, and clerical staff, requiring strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Familiarity with California federal and state court systems and corresponding court rules.

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of personnel, including attorneys, co-workers, and administrators.

  • Flexibility to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and work under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and complete multiple related activities.

  • High-quality work product and ability to follow up and follow through.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with rules-based calendaring software (e.g., CourtAlert, CompuLaw, MA3000) desirable.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of prior experience in a Managing Attorney's Office.

  • Experience working in a large law firm highly desired.

Salary

The annual compensation range for this position is $140-$160K. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.

Pay Details: $140,000.00 to $159,997.00 per year
