The Le Meridien and Sheraton Charlotte Hotels in Charlotte, NC, managed by StepStone Hospitality, are seeking for an accomplished and driven Managing Director. This dynamic role requires a seasoned hospitality executive with a minimum of 7 years of General Manager experience in a branded hotel environment, preferably with Marriott and within an urban market. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of elevating hotel performance across all key metrics, with expertise in managing properties with 400+ rooms and 30,000+ sq ft of meeting space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of 2 full-service branded hotels, ensuring top-tier service delivery and operational excellence.
- Lead and inspire department heads and staff to achieve service and financial goals, with a focus on guest satisfaction (GSS) and TripAdvisor rankings.
- Cultivate strong local partnerships and relationships through active community engagement and market presence in Charlotte.
- Partner closely with 3rd party ownership/asset management groups, maintaining transparency and effectively managing under scrutiny.
- Leverage brand systems and tools (e.g., MGS, GuestVoice, QPower, GXP) to drive brand compliance, performance, and reputation.
- Implement strategies to turn around underperforming hotels (Red Zone to Green) using Marriott-specific standards and metrics.
- Develop and support comprehensive Food & Beverage programs that drive revenue while aligning with overall hotel strategy.
- Direct and support robust sales, marketing, public relations, and social media efforts to boost visibility and topline growth.
- Use revenue management systems and data analysis to inform strategy and maximize room and ancillary revenue.
- Maintain rigorous expense control while sustaining high service levels and driving profitability (NOI).
- Utilize hospitality tech platforms (Profit Sword, Hotel Effectiveness, IBuy Efficient) to enhance productivity and cost management.
- Champion a culture of excellence and employee engagement; mentor future leaders within the organization.
- Analyze and act on key business intelligence reports (STR, P&L, QA audits) to inform operational and strategic decisions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a General Manager in a full-service branded hotel, preferably Marriott.
- Prior experience managing urban, 400+ room properties with significant meeting and event space (30,000+ sq ft).
- Charlotte market knowledge, with local industry connections and insights.
- Demonstrated success working with third-party hotel management companies.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in turning around performance, controlling expenses, and maximizing NOI.
- Hands-on, entrepreneurial leader with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in hotel technology systems and performance tracking tools.
