Manager, Payroll Operations
5 Month Assignment onsite in Culver City, CA
Pay up to $61 per hour w2 based on experience.
Job DescriptionThis role will manage the daily operations of the U.S./Canada payroll functions in partnership with the 3rd party payroll service provider, ensuring all payments made to employees are accurate, timely, and in accordance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations. In addition, this role will be responsible for cross-functional, collaborative efforts to improve and enhance current payroll end to end processes, prepare and develop a variety of reports for external and internal resources, ensure accurate tax filings, as well as ensure the policies and procedures for the payroll department are documented and in compliance with SOX.
Role/Responsibilities: - Manage and train the Controls and Recon team
- Maintain communication with payroll service provider ensuring payroll system is up to date with Tax regulations
- Manage the garnishments process with the payroll service provider
- Ensure all payroll expenses/ payroll related contributions payments are remitted in accordance with policy
- Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal/state income tax, social security tax, and employer's social security tax as provided by the payroll service provider.
- Leads payroll Year End efforts/project plan
- Perform Quarter and Year End Recon (payroll accounts are balanced by resolving payroll discrepancies)
- Approves all earning/deduction codes additions, audits, and funding performed by staff
- Supports finance inquiries for payroll GL activity
- Assist with testing of payroll GL posting and activities
- Work with the finance team on any month-end close payroll related activities
- Leading large scale process improvement initiatives requiring collaboration with stakeholders from different functions
- Spearheading payroll transformation with an emphasis on automation and reduction in processing time leveraging modern technology
- Develop performance metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency for the department and the company as a whole
Job Requirements:- BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Must have statutory and Canadian tax experience
- Knowledge and experience with multi-state taxation; payroll tax calculations and garnishments processing
- Experience managing 3rd party vendor relationships
- 5+ years of relevant experience in payroll
- 3+ years of experience managing teams
- Excellent organization, oral and written communication skills
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Advance computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite
- Prior UKG Pro, SAP experience, required
