Insight Global is looking for a Patient Access Manager for a community health system in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. This person will be able to sit fully remote.
The Patient Access Manager is responsible for overseeing the patient admission process and ensuring that patients receive an optimal healthcare experience. This role involves managing patient registration, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and supervising patient access staff. The Patient Access Manager ensures patient satisfaction by managing the registration process efficiently and effectively. This person will be over the pre access and preauthorization team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Patient Access Department: Coordinate the activities of the patient access department to ensure efficient and accurate patient scheduling, registration, and admissions.
- Policy Development: Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines.
- Staff Training: Train and support staff in their daily duties and promote continuous professional development.
- Patient Relations: Resolve patient complaints or issues related to their access to healthcare services and ensure patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage Patient Access & Pre-Certification Representatives, Patient Access Supervisors & Pre- Certification complaints or issues that arise.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals and departments to ensure seamless patient care.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including insurance and payment information.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze patient access key performance indicators and implement improvement plans when needed.
- Financial Management: Participate in budgeting and financial management, such as setting patient access department goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Business related field required.
Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
Five (5) years healthcare patient accounting experience with the following:
- EPIC EHR Platform experience.
- Direct management of vendors within a results-oriented PFS department with particular emphasis on collections and billing, both hospital/acute and ambulatory.
- At least three (3) years direct employee management experience.
- Hands-on knowledge of UB-04 and HCFA 1500 billing and account follow up, CPT and ICD-10 coding and terminology for hospital and ambulatory/physician billing, customer service and self-pay functions.
- Experience managing a remote workforce.
- Demonstrated experience with having strong interpersonal communication skills required
- Prior experience with interpreting and following detailed policies required
- Demonstrated ability to independently think and make judgments in interpreting and adapting guidelines and making judgment decisions on specific problems required.
- Demonstrated Competency with Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Explorer required with examples of such work provided required.
- Demonstrated ability to handle projects and tasks efficiently (time management) required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform highly complex computerized procedural tasked required.
- Working knowledge of best practice, contract management system logic, basic reporting skills, and payor policies and procedures.
- Prior certification course, training program in medical terminology preferred.
