Job Title:Manager of Brown Estate and Cafe

Responsibilities:GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Manager reports to the Assistant Vice President for Financial Services and is responsible for supervising all aspects of Brown Estate catering and events, and management of the Campus Café. Duties and responsibilities shall include, but not limited to, the following:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Develop goals and objectives on an annual basis for the Brown Estate and the Campus Cafe.2. Supervise and maintain the Brown Estate to ensure a pleasant atmosphere for visitors, guests, caterers, and staff.3. Manage the campus café, supervise the employees, assist in placing orders for inventory, track and monitor sales, and oversee the operations of the café.4. Complete all necessary invoices, deposits, and reporting for the Brown Estate and Campus Café.5. Promote and market Brown Estate services via computer, mail outs, communication's with potential customers, place advertisements, take part in and attend business expos and bridal shows.6. Prepare weekly work schedule for staff of the Brown Estate and the Cafe. Prepare monthly time worked reports to the Business Office for processing.7. Interview, hire and train all full-time and part-time staff.8. Oversee the scheduling of room reservations, tour appointments and catered functions for the Brown Estate. Receive telephone inquiries from businesses and individual customers. Answer all routine inquiries.9. Interview prospective customers and assist clients with event planning.10. Supervise rental functions; set ups, clean ups, servicing and labor.11. Conduct tours of the Brown Estate, which includes upstairs and basement areas.12. Prepare annual budget for review by the Assistant Vice President for Financial Services.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Serve on committees and other service for the college, as required.2. Perform administrative related tasks.3. Responsible for handling customer complaints prior to, during and after functions. The Assistant Vice President for Financial Services shall be apprised of all complaints at the earliest possible time after they are received.4. Ensure that house and property remain in a safe, clean and damage free conditions.5. Performs other appropriate duties as may be determined by the Associate Vice President for Financial Services.
Qualifications:GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
EducationRequires a high school education or its equivalent, including or supplemented by courses in business practices. Graduation from Business College or Associate Degree in related field preferred.
ExperienceRequires two to four years' experience on jobs leading to this, or similar.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of event planning and execution. Knowledge of food preparation, storage and refrigeration. Knowledge of sanitation standards and equipment used in institutional food service. Knowledge of Health Department guidelines. Knowledge of methods of inventory record keeping. Knowledge of effective human resource management. Ability to train and supervise food service workers and clerical staff. Ability to keep accurate records, to calculate food needs, to plan, assign and review work of subordinates. Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Physical RequirementsExtreme ambulatory requirement; normal cognitive requirements; normal speech communication requirement; normal written communication required; normal or corrective reading vision required; normal or corrected hearing required; and frequent local travel required. Requires constant sitting, walking and seeing. Requires frequent standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending and carrying objects up to 25 pounds; operating a calculator, personal computer, copier, fax and various additional office equipment. Requires infrequent sorting and filing.

WORKING CONDITIONSNormal office, restaurant and banqueting facility environments. Flexible hours are considered normal, including weekends.
Salary:$40,000 to $47,000
