Position Overview: Leads membership sales strategy and communication efforts according to the overarching Integrated Fundraising and Marketing (IFM) plan; supervises membership sales ambassadors, including hiring, training, scheduling and time management; conducts team training and intermittent welcome desk training about seasonal membership promotions and events; oversees membership sales and inquiries; conducts ongoing membership industry research; co-leads social media strategy for team.
The position has a set schedule and requires a commitment forty (40) hours per week, including a minimum of one (1) weekend day and occasional holidays and evenings as assigned by management.
Position Responsibilities: Leadership
- Accomplishes business development activities by implements sales plans and achieves sales goals.
- Prepares annual membership budget, schedules expenditures, analyzes variances and initiates corrective actions.
- Maintains accurate records and provides information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends.
- Creates and implements strategic approach to the membership program including acquisition, cultivation and retention; prepares and adjusts goals based on actuals.
Teamwork and Collaboration
- Partners with business leaders to create, plan and implement member events.
- Supports sales efforts in the museum during core hours as well as occasional evenings and weekends
- Collaborates cross-functionally (i.e. Marketing, Museum Operations, Fund Development) to encourage new and upgraded memberships.
Accountability and Ownership
- Meets sales financial objectives by forecasting requirements, identifying trends and preparing.
- Manages membership renewal and sales efforts through online, email, phone, social media and print communication; coordinates with marketing team on mailings and design.
- Optimizes Altru database and capabilities, supports the ongoing maintenance and accuracy of membership data and protects organization's value by ensuring the confidentiality of all information.
Stewardship and Community Focus
- Acts as an ambassador and actively shares information within area communities to raise awareness of the museum and to drive visitation.
- Represents Stepping Stones as a highly respected educational resource and effectively shares the vision, mission and strategies in a variety of settings.
Staff Development and Management
- Hires, trains, evaluates and manages direct reports to ensure efficient, productive and knowledgeable staff and teams.
- Identifies trainings and professional development opportunities for sales team
- Manages team of Membership Lead and Associates
- Consistently updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
- Completes the performance management process for staff and interns within timeline. Creates individual professional development plans for all direct reports.
Requirements
Minimum Experience/Skills/Certificates: - College degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in marketing, sales and/or related field.
- Track record of leadership and coaching skills with proven ability to reach sales goals.
- Focus on consistently providing quality service to visitors and clients; strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven strategic and financial planning abilities.
- Project management skills with the ability to work independently and demonstrate a proactive approach.
- Creative problem-solving skills; proven ability to recommend and implement process improvements and new initiatives; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Sensitive to diversity including individuals with physical challenges or special needs.
- Strong Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point and proven ability to learn new systems and software; experience with Blackbaud's Altru is desirable.
Salary Description
$55,000 per year
