The Manager of Engineering & Maintenance is responsible for the oversight, management, and execution of all building utility systems, building infrastructure, interiors, and non-medical equipment repairs and maintenance. Responsible for day-to-day implementation and management of the Utility Systems Management Plan, Fire Safety Management Plan, Statement of Conditions, and the computerized maintenance management system in compliance with the applicable Joint Commission Environment of Care and Life Safety standards. This role is responsible for the administration of the computerized maintenance management system to ensure requests are acted upon and corrective actions are completed in a timely manner. Ensures compliance with completion of all preventative maintenance and developing preventive maintenance programs for new equipment based upon the manufacturer's recommendations or an Alternative Equipment Maintenance (AEM) program. Participates in both operational and capital budgeting process and managing the assigned budgets. Collaborates with leaders across the organization to assist in day-to-day activities, projects, and events.
Minimum Education - High school diploma or equivalent and a master level license or certification in a building trade, OR
- Associate degree in engineering, applied science, facilities management, or another related field
Minimum Work Experience - 5 years of associated engineering experience (i.e. facility management; operations and maintenance; clinical engineering; safety and security; planning, design, and construction; or environmental management), preference given to experience in healthcare setting.
- 5 years of management/supervisory/administrative experience
Required Licenses/Certifications - Certification in Healthcare Facilities Management (CHFM) preferred
- Licensure at a Master level or certification in a building trade desirable.
- Valid Vermont Driver's license.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities - Demonstrated strong knowledge of hospital equipment and building primary and secondary mechanical, electrical and plumbing distribution equipment; construction, installation, operation and repair.
- Working knowledge and understanding of maintenance and repair management systems.
- Knowledge of building operation design and construction standard.
- Solid project management experience required.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Demonstrated experience with computer applications associated with work order systems, microprocessor control systems, and computer based ordering, scheduling, and spreadsheet software.
- Must demonstrate effective human resource and interpersonal skill.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, communicate and listen effectively with frequent interruptions while maintaining customer focus at all times.
