General Position Description:

The Manager, Career Pathways will perform administrative duties and provide leadership to build capacity, develop and implement a system of pathways to college and high skill and high wage careers. Responsible for coordinating career pathways articulation and postsecondary transition functions by working closely with organizational units responsible for career and workforce education, articulation, student services, curriculum development, business linkages, and tracking and evaluation.

1. Designs and develops Strategic Plans which move prospective students to enrollment and persistence in the Career Pathways/Tech Express related programs.

2. Manages the planning and implementation of program reviews for Career Pathways in collaboration with Deans and faculty.

3. Provide professional leadership in organizing, administering, and supervising, and evaluating the effective operation of Career Pathways.

4. Collaborates with various stakeholders to compile, analyze, and disseminate data related to Career Pathways in the high schools and tech colleges related to Career Pathways.

5. Coordinate the development of new and revised articulation agreements with Orange County Schools and School District of Osceola.

6. Manages the process for tracking, processing, issuing, and reporting Career Pathways student enrollment in the Valencia's career programs.

7. Develops and prepares reports for Career Pathways activities in high schools and tech colleges.

8. Manages Career Pathways staff to facilitate data collection and records management for Career Pathways Coaches to provide advising and support to students enrolled at Technical College campuses.

9. Works with Valencia's Marketing Department to develop annual strategies for the marketing and promotion of all Career Pathways and Tech Express related programs. Participates in the development of all promotional materials.

10. Creates community-based partnerships to support the academic success of Career Pathways students.

11. Establishes and develops effective professional relationships with school district, community agency leaders, and staff.

12. Provides informational sessions for faculty, students, parents, counselors, and administrators at high schools, technical colleges and Valencia.

13. Ensures program and department information is current. Oversees the Career Pathways Program information in the College Catalog. Oversees the website presence of all Career Pathways and Tech Express related programs and activities.

14. Collaborates with campus and college leadership to determine Career Pathways high school and Technical College campus-based presence and course/program offerings.

15. Manages the career pathways budget, including any sub-recipient monitoring to support the activities of the consortium.

Required Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Required Field of Study:

Business, human relations/human resources, public policy and/or workforce education.

Preferred Type of Experience:

Experience working cooperatively and effectively with staff in an educational setting.

Experience in planning and coordinating activities and projects related to career programs.

Experience with coordinating special events/activities and working with business and community leaders.

Experience with using multiple computer software applications and design and development of databases.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of career and workforce education.

Knowledge of State of Florida policies and statutes regarding Career Pathways and high school graduation requirements.

Knowledge of college advising process and general education/academic program requirements.

Skill in effectively communicating, interpersonally, orally, and in writing.

Skill in the use of personal computers and general office software.

Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines and prioritizing changing needs.

General Working Conditions:

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus.
