Our growing Automation Department seeks a Manager Automation to lead a team dedicated to providing support to our manufacturing process areas. You will supervise an automation team to ensure work efforts are aligned in order to successfully execute tactical plans that enable manufacturing operations. Our Managers provide oversight of cGMP automation quality systems, software change control, and automation related corrective actions for a specific area within Regenerons Industrial Operation and Product Supply (IOPS) organization.

As a Manager Automation, a typical day might include the following:

  • Managing a team of automation employees and consultants dedicated to providing support to manufacturing process areas. This includes ensuring the completion of daily critical tasks such as training completion, timesheet entry, execution of departmental initiatives, and the performance of periodic employee evaluations.
  • Providing automation support and solutions to Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Facilities.
  • Providing leadership to define scope, schedule and cost towards completion of projects.
  • Reviewing and approving design and testing documents, work performed on the plant floor, preventive maintenance work and testing studies.
  • Navigating the ambiguity of unplanned events and using critical thinking to arrive at a solution that preserves the timeline without sacrificing quality or team cohesion.
  • Identifying and actively pursuing opportunities for efficiencies in Automation department work processes.
  • Providing guidance to successfully implement modification/change control procedures and protocols within a process area.
  • Developing automation plans to resolve automation issues or improve automation processes.
  • Being influential in the development of new approaches to resolve issues through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles that reflect understanding of business objectives and quality implications.
  • Leading a team of engineering professionals conducting engineering studies and investigations, and preparing reports for department and company leadership.
  • Communicating data to Directors and Senior Leadership regarding proposed improvements to processes or procedures, where appropriate.
  • Stepping in as a technical contributor when necessary.
This position might be for you if you:
  • Are an experienced Automation Engineer looking to mentor and develop a group of forward-thinking engineers delivering results under demanding timelines and situations.
  • Are adept at managing through influence as well as direct authority.
  • Are experienced with Allen-Bradley Logix5000 platform, Factory Talk View SE Distributed HMIs and Thin Manager ,
  • Are experienced with Siemens PLC control systems (S7/TIA Portal) or Delta V DCS
  • Are able to organize and present technical and project management overviews to engineering staff, multi-functional departments, and management independently.
  • Have a solid understanding of bioprocessing and testing equipment design, cGMP software quality system principles, sanitary equipment design requirements, and data integrity regulations.
  • Are a critical thinker who enjoys tackling sophisticated scenarios that, once solved, move the business forward.
  • Show resiliency and flexibility in the face of unique situations.
  • Have outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with team members with tact and diplomacy.

To be considered for this position, you ideally should have a BS in engineering or a related field and 7 years of experience in the leading, designing, programming, and maintenance of control systems and data acquisition systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for degree. You should have demonstrated experience in leading small teams. Prior experience within a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility is highly preferred.

Salary Range (annually)

$119,300.00 - $194,500.00
