Job Description The Application Development Manager's (ADM) role is to plan, coordinate, and supervise the activities related to the design, development, and implementation of organizational information systems and software applications as assigned by the Director of Applications.
Manager, Application Development The Manager of Application Development is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and support of both vendor-packaged and custom-built internal solutions that enhance core banking systems and enterprise applications. This role ensures alignment with strategic plans and technology roadmaps, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities - Lead a team of core banking developers, ensuring project success and system reliability.
- Oversee software development methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and testing practices.
- Work with executive leadership to drive technology initiatives and influence IT strategy.
- Optimize core banking platforms such as Symitar/Episys, Jack Henry, Synergy, Synapsys, MeridianLink, Encompass, and IBM iSeries (AS/400).
- Implement agile development and iterative project management methodologies.
- Manage cross-functional collaborations with business units, IT teams, and external vendors.
- Drive application modernization, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and enhance code quality, governance, and best practices.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- 6+ years of experience in financial institution technologies (Core Banking, Loan Origination, CRM, Digital Banking).
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in mentoring, coaching, and professional development.
- Hands-on expertise in software engineering, version control (Git), and software testing practices.
- Ability to influence executive leadership and drive strategic technology decisions.
- Solid understanding of agile project management principles.
Nice-To-Haves:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Hands-on experience in core banking application development (Symitar/Episys, Jack Henry, PowerOn, etc.).
- Familiarity with IBM's AIX operating system.
- Proficiency in RPG, SQL, XML, JavaScript, and UI/UX frameworks.
- Experience implementing IT governance frameworks and software engineering processes.
