Summary
Responsible for assisting the Planning Services area with the development, implementation, and management of the GLWA enterprise-wide asset management. Focused on supporting the inspection, analysis and management of GLWA's water and wastewater horizontal vertical infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead & Support GLWA's Asset Management programs.
  • Develop or review repair and replacement decisions for water and wastewater infrastructure based on condition information and performance data.
  • Support risk assessments and other analyzes such as reliability centered design, risk-based inspection and Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis.
  • Assist in the development, interpretation and maintenance of performance indicators.
  • Review engineering plans for plant improvements or expansions.
  • Participate in the implementation and use of asset management and work management software programs, including serving as a power user and or trainer for key Asset Management related software such as Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Stay current with industry trends by participating in educational opportunities and professional/community organizations.
  • Follow security and safety policies and procedures in carrying out work duties.
  • Prepare and present status reports to management as needed.
  • Respond to all requests for project information.
  • Coordinate meetings and tasks with other units across the organization.
  • Perform related work duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in a related operational area and three (3) or more years in a specialty designation area preferable in municipal or public utility setting.

OR

Associate's degree in in a related operational area and five (5) or more years in a specialty designation area preferable in municipal or public utility setting.

Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or applied science-preferred
  • Experience in operation, maintenance, and repair of a process facility-preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office-preferred
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in design, engineering, maintenance, or operations of a process facility (water, wastewater, refining, chemical processing etc.)-preferred
  • Knowledge of maintenance and engineering practices including computerized maintenance management software-preferred
  • Knowledge of plant engineering software such as SCADA and/or process modelling software (Ovation, Emerson EDS, Trend Minder, Seeq, Aspen HYSYS, Biowin etc.)-preferred
Other Requirements
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License
  • May be required to provide own vehicle for transportation on a reimbursed mileage basis
  • Ability to work irregular hours, commute to GLWA facilities and work sites

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to computer screens, working in team offices, and closely with all staffing levels.
