About the Role
As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for performing digital mammograms with precision and professionalism. You'll support patients throughout their visit, ensuring their experience is both safe and comfortable while maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mammography and computer equipment to obtain high-quality images.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and document medical history.
- Provide clear communication, emotional support, and breast health education to patients.
- Maintain exam schedules efficiently while balancing walk-ins and urgent cases.
- Follow quality control procedures to ensure image clarity and consistency.
- Input patient risk factors and history into the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Coordinate with radiologists to ensure timely and accurate image interpretation.
- Collaborate with surgeons, sonographers, and other specialists to support continuity of care.
- Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and workstations to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including infection control and universal precautions.
- Demonstrate adaptability in a fast-paced environment and follow department protocols.
- Report abnormal situations or findings to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Uphold professional ethics and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology and Mammography (ARRT R, M).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience performing both screening and diagnostic mammograms.
- Working knowledge of MQSA and ACR standards and regulations.
- Familiarity with mammography quality control and assurance procedures.
- Strong understanding of healthcare policies, safety procedures, and patient care standards.
- Excellent communication skills with a compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Proficiency in computer systems, with the ability to type at least 50 WPM.
- Physical ability to assist with patient positioning and lift up to 20 lbs.
