Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe repair and troubleshooting of maintenance equipment. This includes, but may not be limited to installation, preventative maintenance, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and decommissioning of equipment and machinery.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides hands on involvement and completion of tasks and/or direction to contractor(s) service companies performing or assisting to get the projects complete
- Performs a variety of service work in the following: Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Pipe Fitting, Carpentry, Plumbing, Welding & Fabrication, Sheet Metal Working, Machining, Rigging, Erection, HVAC, Refrigeration, Etc.
- Takes a proactive approach to safety in all work activities
- Assist in the start up and shut down of facility, as needed
- Administrative responsibilities may include but not limited to: Parts, material and service ordering and scheduling, researching and purchasing, maintaining records, files, manuals and other shop maintenance related items
- Maintain organization of the Maintenance Crib & Office and its contents making sure all tools and related equipment used for maintenance purposes are in good operable condition. Also, ensure consumable parts and frequently used maintenance items are in inventory, organized and available for use
- Maintain all Shop - Process Control Instrument Calibration requirements
- Ensure compliance with regulations and enforce industry guidelines set by but not limited to OSHA, ANSI, EPA, NFPA, OCWD and TS16949: 2002 Standards
- Ensures 6S, housekeeping and health and safety standards are maintained
- Must operate in a manner that reinforces, supports, and is consistent with the Cooper Standard Leadership Model
- May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed and directed by manager
Education and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Two Year College Degree or applicable Technical Training and Certification is preferred.
- Typically has two plus years of experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude is required, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems
- Experience with rubber and/or plastic extrusion/ molding and extrusion equipment preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Use of Solidworks and MasterCam software a plus
- Forklift/Lift Truck / Aerial Lift operator experience a plus
- Has no supervisory responsibilities; manages own workload
- Must be able to read metric and imperial prints, schematics and equipment manuals.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds
- Positive teamwork and attitude required to support the manufacturing environment
- Experience with MIOSHA standards and Lockout/Tagout preferred
- Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary

- Professional Office Environment
- Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
- Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required
- Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
