Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building maintenance with specialized skills in painting to help maintain and improve the appearance and functionality of our facilities. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and installations across various systems and equipment, while also taking the lead on painting projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:
Perform routine maintenance and preventive repairs on building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general structural components.
Inspect and troubleshoot facility issues, documenting and resolving them in a timely manner.
Maintain and repair furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
Painting and Surface Preparation:
Lead and execute interior and exterior painting projects, including walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and other surfaces.
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and priming as necessary for paint application.
Select and apply appropriate paint materials and finishes, ensuring high-quality results.
Manage painting schedules and ensure minimal disruption to daily operations.
Facility Upkeep:
Assist in maintaining the general cleanliness and upkeep of the facility, ensuring it meets company standards.
Ensure safety and cleanliness during and after painting or maintenance tasks.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, painting projects, and materials used.
Assist in generating reports for management on facility conditions and maintenance needs.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate closely with other departments to coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules.
Provide support during facility renovations or upgrades, as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
Work closely with other members of the Physical Plant and College staff to ensure the smooth operation of campus facilities and services.
Assist in other duties as needed for the good and welfare of the overall college ministry, contributing to a positive campus environment.
Participate in a regular on-call rotation, responding to facility emergencies or urgent maintenance requests as needed outside of regular working hours.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or trade school training is a plus.
At least 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
Proven experience with painting techniques (interior/exterior, surface preparation, and finish work).
Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
Ability to use power tools and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial painting, including knowledge of various paint types and application methods.
Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
Basic knowledge of construction or carpentry.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints or facility schematics.
Prior experience working in a facility management or maintenance role within a corporate, retail, manufacturing, or higher education environment.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
Comfortable working in various environmental conditions (e.g., indoors, outdoors, confined spaces).
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, climb ladders and use lifts for extended periods.
Comfortable in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
