Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support, foster, promote, and demonstrate Stairtek's Core Values; Whatever it Takes, Open to Change, High Standards, and Think Like a Customer.
  • Support production by minimizing downtime and maximizing equipment, machine, and tools uptime and performance.
  • Timely response to all appropriate maintenance requests to support production and equipment needs.
  • Examine systems or facilities to determine installation, service, or repair needed.
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments according to production specifications.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and develop root cause analysis to determine solutions.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts and reassemble machine after completion of repair or maintenance work.
  • Examines and tests form, fit, and performance of equipment and parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Set up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiates purchase order requests for parts and machines.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders, and constructs templets and lays out reference points.
  • Completes and maintains work orders.
  • Completes daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly preventative maintenance tasks assigned by Manager.
  • Documents and maintain records of job completions.
  • Examines tools and equipment to detect needed replacements, unsafe conditions, or violations of safety rules.
  • Repairs electrical equipment.
  • Support facilities by responding to needs such as basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, general contracting, and structural repairs.
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine machine and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage.
  • Maintain adequate spare parts inventory and order inventory and parts as needed.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Required Skills / Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Able to think and act independently
  • Ability to work and problem solve an HMI / PLC.
  • General electric, HVAC, and general contracting background.
  • 5S/Lean Projects.
  • Mechanical Background.
  • Pneumatic experience.
  • Ability to weld, use plasma cutter, and torch.
  • Must be detailed oriented and have good communication skills to interact with vendors and team members at all levels within the organization.
  • Willing to support operations as needed.
  • Must be willing to tackle special projects and work within various functions.

Academic & Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience is required.
  • Associate degree in applied science or similar field preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to move throughout all areas of the plant as required to perform duties.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures inside the facility.
  • Must be able to spend 100% of the time on the production floor in a manufacturing environment.
