Maintenance Technician / Mechanic - Full-Time
Job Summary:
A leading manufacturing facility is seeking a Maintenance Technician/Mechanic to oversee the performance, care, and upkeep of large-scale production machinery. This role works in close coordination with department leaders, plant management, shift supervisors, and engineering personnel. Strong communication skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and sound decision-making based on data are essential. Responsibilities include maintaining machinery, support equipment, and facility utilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Adhere to all safety and HESS (Health, Environment, Safety, and Security) policies.
• Perform preventive maintenance and service on production equipment.
• Clean machines and parts, disassembling and reinstalling as needed.
• Lubricate moving parts to ensure optimal performance.
• Inspect for and report any damaged, worn, or broken parts.
• Order and install replacement components.
• Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions quickly and effectively.
• Document maintenance activities and repair work.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop areas, inventory, tools, and parts.
• Coordinate with supervisors to schedule regular maintenance.
• Collaborate with engineering/product teams on equipment updates and test runs.
• Perform test modifications and make adjustments based on results.
• Use basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Operate and maintain tools and systems involving pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Participate in audits and resolve any maintenance-related issues.
• Use historical data to support fact-based decision-making.
• Maintain a clean workspace in accordance with 5S principles.
• Continuously expand knowledge of machinery and maintenance systems.
• Support mechanical systems oversight and root cause analysis.
• Assist with facilities maintenance duties as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum of 4 years of maintenance experience required.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, technical documents, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
Additional Skills & Abilities:
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Welding and torch work experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, bend, and reach for extended periods.
• Requires use of hands for handling tools and machinery.
• Must have close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Travel:
• Occasional domestic travel may be required.
Work Environment:
• Primarily based in a manufacturing environment.
• May be exposed to noise, heat, cold, confined spaces, and industrial odors.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required when posted.
