Summary of Position

Maintain shop and yard to a professional appearance, performing pump and seal repairs with production deadlines and quality assurance. Responsible for inspecting safety equipment.


Job Duties

o Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

o Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

o Remove defective parts using dismantling devices (hoists, hand and power tools) and determine serviceability of parts.

o Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

o Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

o Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.

o Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

o Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests by customers.

o Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.

o Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.

o Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

o Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

o Perform maintenance as a field technician to include landfill operations as required.

o Break down, inspect and document evaluation on various seals and components.

o Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

o Ability to operate forklift.

o Other duties as assigned


BASIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education, general:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience may be substituted for education


Experience, length of years and kind:

2 years related mechanical experience preferred


Special knowledge, abilities, and skills:

Trouble shoot pump control panel, Preferred-HDPE Welding, Preferred Mig, Tig Welding, Preferred-Operating track loader


Physical Requirements

Some overnight travel may be required. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Able to work in bended, kneeling, squatting positions.
