DEFINITION: This position focuses on construction-related maintenance, repair, and renovation of institutional buildings and facilities. Employees will perform work involving general carpentry, remodeling, and light electrical and plumbing tasks. Work is completed with limited supervision using hand tools, equipment, and construction materials.DUTIES: General carpentry, including rough-in and finish work, framing, drywall installation/repair, and door/window installation. Makes repairs to floors and drywall; repairs broken windows and sash weights; repairs doors and locks. Remodel and renovate existing facilities with tasks involving light plumbing and electrical work. Prep and install vinyl and ceramic flooring. Install, repair, and replace drywall, vinyl siding, and cabinetry. Lay out and prepare job sites; estimate and procure required materials for projects. Inspect and patch roof leaks; replace damaged roofing materials. Runs cable, repair floors, doors, locks, and windows. Operate light construction equipment such as forklifts, trucks, jackhammers, and loading equipment. Assist with building-related painting tasks as assigned. Complies with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College. Performs related work as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or GED certification required. Three 3) years of experience in general maintenance work with a focus on carpentry, building repair, or construction related trades. required. License in specific fields (i.e., contracting, plumbing, etc.) may be required for certain positions. Friendly personality, enthusiastic, positive attitude, evidence of trustworthiness and ethical conduct, effective human relations skills, strong work ethic. SALARY: Salary Schedule E-4, Grade 05 - $34,298 - $51,793 based on applicable experience. APPLICATION DEADLINE: January 21, 2025 - 4:00 P.M.
