To set-up, adjust, repair, and maintain assigned machinery and mechanical equipment with responsibility for production and quality on this equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and takes corrective action.
  2. Performs preventative maintenance, makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
  3. Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for production, changes over equipment to new sizes or performs scheduled maintenance.
  4. Tests equipment to check operation. Clears jams and sets aside product for inspection and rework. Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
  5. Uses knowledge of electric motors, resistant welders, transformers, ARC welding, air compressors, air cylinders, air control valves and regulators.
  6. Uses knowledge of clutches, bearings, brakes, gears, cams, pulleys, etc.
  7. Uses knowledge of gas burners, regulators, and burner controls.
  8. Uses knowledge of steam generators, steam controls, regulators, and heat exchangers.
  9. Responsible for conducting all works in a safe, clean and orderly manner.
  10. May perform other duties as requested.
  11. May participate on project teams as requested.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple sentences. Ability to speak simple sentences and communicates to co-workers and supervisors.
  • Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, whole numbers, fractions, & decimals.
  • Other Skills: Basic understanding of electric motors, resistant welders, transformers, ARC welding, air compressors, air cylinders, air control valves and regulators. Knowledge of mechanical devices such as clutches, bearings, brakes, gears, cams, pulleys, etc. Knowledge of gas burners, regulators, and burner controls. Familiarity with steam generators, steam controls, regulators, and heat exchangers.

  • Lifting Frequency: Occasional heavy lifting 100 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Vision: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Repetitive Hand Action: Firm grasping - the ability to exert sufficient grip to pick-up a case of 12 oz. soft drinks or to pick-up a bowling ball. Requires approximate grip strength of 45-60 lbs. on a hand dynamometer.
  • Fine Manipulation of Hands/Fingers: Sufficient coordination to place and screw a small washer on a bolt, to pick-up clip from a desk top, or pick up a dime off a counter top. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Ability to work in two (2) person teams.
