Job Summary Under the direction of the Facility and Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician carriers out responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing; mechanical and electrical systems. Capable of identifying and correcting problems such as: electrical/control systems (sensors, limit switches, solenoids, motors, Servos, PLC inputs and outputs, PID loops, etc.) and mechanical systems (pumps, vacuum pumps, belt drives, gear reduction drives, piping, valve diagnosis and replacement, HVAC systems, air handling systems, etc.)
Ensure operation of machinery by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, motor control devices, pumps, instrumentation, and all production equipment; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturers instructions, and engineering specifications. Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and mechanical and electrical testing instruments. Provide mechanical maintenance and other general information as necessary to prevent equipment damage; answers questions to related maintenance issues.
Qualifications Responsibilities:
Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services, maximizing production time and minimizing down time.
Explore methods for the improvement of machine operation. Upgrade machinery and equipment to improve production.
Diagnose and locate trouble in electrical systems or equipment working from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications.
Make repairs or adjustments to keep equipment in production.
Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining or replacement of purchased parts.
Perform various activities relative to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment to involve dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting and aligning operations.
Perform maintenance on the buildings, facilities, and the grounds.
Assist to determine the nature and scope of forthcoming projects and the requirements for completion. Complete assigned projects as directed.
Perform all assigned preventive maintenance on production equipment and machinery, and the building and grounds.
Order parts and supplies as needed.
Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.
Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Follow LOTO procedures, JHAs, and Standard Operating Procedures as well as looks for continuous improvement in the process task. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Must wear PPE equipment at all times as indicated by work being performed.

Responsible for compliance with all regulatory, facility food safety, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs) policies and procedures.
Job Qualifications/Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Requires the ability to read and work from blueprints, schematics, and diagrams, understand electrical and electronic principles, the ability to operate fork lift trucks, aerial lifts and man lifts, the ability to operate a wide variety of small hand and power tools, and precision measuring devices, the ability to operate a variety of electronic testing equipment, HVAC trouble shooting and the ability to operate shop equipment.
Must be able to recognize and avoid electrical hazards, identify exposed energized electrical components and conductors and skills to determine the nominal voltage of exposed energized electrical components and conductors.
Ability to read and interpret document such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Knowledge and experience of VFDs of different types (Omron, Yaskawa, Mitsubishi, etc), process control instrumentation devices (thermocouple, pressure switches, etc.), Servomotors and drive units
Must be highly self-motivated
Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks
Familiarity with using a computer and MS Office
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers.
Requires the ability to be on-call as needed.
Must have and maintain a valid drivers license.
Education and/or Experience:
Requires an associate degree in mechanical maintenance or trades training equivalent to a complete, accredited apprenticeship and three to five years of related experience; or four years of high school and eight to ten years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
Essential Job Functions:
Must have a general knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics, HVAC, HMIs, PLCs, VFDs, Servo motors and drives, electricity and electronics to install, maintain, repair and calibrate all facets of press equipment, as needed.
Must have general maintenance skills. (Plumbing, welding, carpentry, etc.)
Must be able to evaluate and diagnose problems on equipment.
Must have good communication skills needed to discuss diagnostic problems with factory personnel.
Must be available for around the clock emergency service call
Must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds with the assistance of a hoist.
Must be agile. Bending, stooping, climbing, etc., in order to work in close spaces on equipment carry and support equipment where necessary and quickly avoid dangerous unforeseen circumstances.
Must be able to work in hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside, and stand on concrete for long hours.
Ability to work at heights around 30 feet on ladders and aerial lifts.
Must have reading and general math skills which permit employee to follow written directions regarding equipment and to calculate dimensions necessary to do repair.
Must have the maturity, disposition and patience to practice safety during each maintenance procedure. Must exercise judgment in locating maintenance work, i.e. maintaining proper distance from combustible materials and isolating work for nonparticipating employees who might suffer injury.
Reflexes must be in excellent condition for quick response time on moving machinery. Employee must be able to react to rapidly moving parts in order to avoid serious injury to him/her. Employee must be completely alert at all times to operate machinery in a proper manner.
