Position Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Facilities Manager and is directly responsible for the efficient, safe, and continuous operations of the plant equipment and utilities. Planning & supervision of and assignment of duties for Maintenance Specialists and contractors for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, electronic, refrigeration and control systems related to manufacturing equipment and utilities in a Medical Device facility to ensure conformance to established guidelines. Applicant must be flexible for new roles and responsibilities as required.


Facilities / Maintenance

  • Assist in the coordination and supervision of facilities related maintenance and projects to ensure the facility is managed in a safe and effective manner
  • Ensure facilities compliance to all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements including OSHA, FDA, ISO 13485, local building code, etc.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement projects for the site to assist in the development of a 'World Class's facilities program
  • Manage maintenance personnel day-to-day responsibilities, monitor/track performance, ensure work quality and efficiency
  • Assist in commissioning and validation protocol generation and execution for facilities related systems
  • Assist in EHS training, including first responder training, emergency evacuation, safety plans, hazardous waste, etc
  • Oversee handling of hazardous chemicals/waste including storage, transportation, disposal, and SDS program
  • Maintain the facility interior/exterior in a neat, orderly, and safe condition
  • Develop EHS objectives and ensure compliance and execution
  • Develop support alliance with service providers for major mechanical systems
  • Respond to emergency facilities events when needed (e.g., power outage, broken water line, security breach, etc.)
  • Support company goals and objectives, policies, and procedures, quality system regulations (21CFR820, ISO 13485)

Other Duties

  • Participate in planning meetings as scheduled
  • Lead systems upgrades, enhancements, and implementations for facilities related projects
  • Complete any additional tasks as assigned by Manager

Internal Networking/Key relationships:

This position requires cooperation and coordination with different company departments, such as R&D, Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering, Regulatory, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Quality and other key stake holders.

Minimum Skills and Capabilities:

  • Able to handle multiple projects at one time effectively
  • Excellent customer service attitude and good interpersonal skills required
  • Must be available to work overtime and respond to on-call requests as required to meet business needs
  • Facilities related experience in medical device industry or similar
  • Good verbal/written communications, fluent in English, self-managed performance
  • Basic understanding of blueprints and architectural documents
  • Ability to motivate and collaborate with leaders at various levels of the organization
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Project
  • Master Control and SAP knowledge/skills are a plus
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in ISO 7 cleanroom maintenance
  • Knowledge of basic electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems
  • Experience with contractor coordination and supervision
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and bending. Lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Able to handle closed containers of adhesives and chemicals

Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:

  • High school diploma/equivalent is required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science related field preferred
  • At least three to five (5-7) years of experience in facilities related field is required and FDA-regulated industry experience is highly preferred
  • Basic knowledge in Plant Safety Operations, and DOT Hazmat requirement
