Maintenance Superintendent
Job Description
With leadership from the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for the safe and effective use of all maintenance employees and the resources necessary to support the entire manufacturing operation. Lead technician in the preventative maintenance program and continuous improvement initiatives. Safety, electro-mechanical, housekeeping, GMP standards, leadership and problem solving ability as well as good employee relations are considered key elements to success.
Responsibilities:
1. Job Hazard Analysis and safety compliance
2. Purchase of spare parts using the PO system
3. Ability to perform mechanical, electrical, pipefitting, and rigging duties
4. Train personnel in proper safety and operation techniques
5. Execute maintenance plans according to the work schedule
6. Prioritize shift work, while properly assigning shift resources to effectively utilize employee experience, training and ability
7. Ensure the safety of all personnel through compliance with occupational safety and health regulations
8. Provide employees with resources, in good working order, to safely perform work and provide necessary training
9. Recognize environmental, safety, and GMP hazards and takes actions to ensure the hazards are eliminated
10. Address employee concerns and maintains good communications and morale on shift and within department
11. Work with employees to develop a high level of job proficiency. Analyze maintenance performance and work to improve efficiencies
12. Provide positive reinforcement when employees are observed producing good results and safe performance
13. Maintain discipline within the shift and documents unusual or unacceptable behaviors for the department manager
14. Responsible for development of maintenance employees in assigned areas. Proactively engage in the development & training of hourly labor
15. Provide management of employees directly to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action and performance management
16. Strong troubleshooting skills, able to drive to root cause analysis
17. Utilize mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds
18. Collaborate with facility management to utilize equipment to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness
19. Ensure corporate policies and standards are followed in the execution of daily maintenance activities
20. Maintain and supervise preventive maintenance schedules, inspections and repairs to minimize down time
21. Assemble and submit accurate daily, weekly and other deliverable reports; ensure achievement of all area/shift KPIs
22. Work from prints, diagrams, specification, and instructions covering emergency and scheduled repairs. Obtain materials as needed for emergency work.
23. Maintain documentation and identify cost saving ideas
24. Performs other duties as assigned
25. Ability to work any shift, weekend, and holidays to support the operation
Qualifications
Education: High School diploma is required with desired experience. Bachelor's Degree is preferred in operations or engineering; or relevant experience.
Related Experience: 5 - 7 years of technical maintenance experience preferably in food packaging, process, and /or food safety and security. Previous supervisory experience/leadership experience is required. Engineering project experience is preferred.
Equipment/Software Skills: Must be PC literate with working knowledge of MS Office, CMMS, Outlook, etc.
