Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician will support operations at a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility by ensuring that equipment, utilities, and plant systems remain compliant with applicable federal and state regulations especially current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). This role focuses on performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting ongoing operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities (Under Supervision):
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and utilities in alignment with cGMP standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to maintain efficient operations and minimize downtime.
Complete non-routine maintenance tasks and support process/equipment improvements as needed.
Accurately document all maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance (PM), repairs, and equipment usage logs.
Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Assist in maintaining and improving site operations and infrastructure.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a manufacturing setting and may involve exposure to:
Noise: Continuous or intermittent noise that may affect hearing.
Fumes, Odors, and Gases: Exposure to emissions from chemical processes.
Dust: Airborne particles from various materials.
Hazards: Work near moving machinery, heights, hot surfaces, electrical systems, chemicals, or confined spaces.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, speak, and hear.
Capable of detecting odors and using close, distance, and peripheral vision with depth perception.
Operate machinery, tools, and computer systems.
Lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
Wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe shoes.
Travel Requirement:
Occasional travel may be required (up to 5%).
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma, Trade/Vocational School certification, or equivalent (GED).
1 2 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical environment.
Proficiency in identifying replacement parts via manuals and online resources.
Basic computer skills including MS Office and familiarity with SAP or similar systems.
Experience with a range of equipment such as blenders, mills, sifters, printing machines, dust collectors, and packaging equipment.
Basic knowledge of cGMP and OSHA regulations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Basic English proficiency (CEFR A2 or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications:
Black Seal Boiler License and/or HVAC Certification.
Ability to read electrical schematics and control diagrams.
Skills in welding, plumbing, and copper pipe soldering.
Experience with HVAC troubleshooting and Building Management Systems.
Knowledge of compressed air/pneumatic systems and related troubleshooting.
Ability to fabricate simple parts like sheet metal guards.
Understanding of and ability to maintain mid-level equipment (e.g., tablet presses, capsule fillers, film coaters).
Electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting experience (e.g., using multimeters).
