Job Description
This is a full-time (hourly) position based in Turlock, CA. Hourly pay range of $33.00 - $43.50 per hour, based on experience.

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing plant, producing ice cream, juice, sour cream, and yogurt. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of equipment, diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, and providing technical expertise to support our production operations. Your efforts will directly contribute to maintaining product integrity, optimizing production efficiency, and ensuring safety across the facility.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform preventative maintenance and rapid repairs on a variety of manufacturing equipment, including forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
  • Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Use diagnostic tools and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair breakdowns, ensuring equipment is running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Routine Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance tasks on plant equipment and vehicles to prevent failures and improve operational longevity.
  • Component Replacements: Repair or replace worn or damaged parts, such as motors, gearboxes, bearings, electrical components, and more, to maintain optimal performance.
  • Calibration and Testing: Conduct calibrations on electrical and electronic equipment, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards. Test and inspect equipment post-repair to ensure functionality.
  • Fabrication & Modifications: Occasionally fabricate machine parts and modify equipment to enhance functionality or meet specific operational requirements.
  • Collaborative Support: Provide ongoing support and training to operators and fellow team members, ensuring proper equipment usage, identifying potential issues, and developing solutions to enhance productivity.
  • Project Assistance: Work with outside contractors as needed, assisting with on-site projects and major repairs to ensure smooth operations.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols, including environmental, health, and safety programs, ensuring safe operations and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain clean work areas, following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and adhering to the Safe Quality Food (SQF) program standards.
  • Food Safety Support: Play a key role in supporting food safety and quality systems, ensuring all equipment meets required standards for manufacturing food products.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full-time, non-exempt position.
  • C Shift 5PM-530AM

Incentive Offer:

  • $1,000 Hiring Bonus: Earn a $1,000 hiring bonus upon successful completion of six months of employment.

Requirements

Competencies:

  • Proficient use of diagnostic tools (multimeters, circuit testers)
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of fabrication tools, power tools, and measuring instruments
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to operate and repair material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment

Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a production mechanic, with prior experience in car or diesel truck repairs.
  • Additional Skills:

    • Forklift Mechanic experience is preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical systems.
    • Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
    • Must provide own personal hand tools.

Work Environment:

  • This is a hands-on role that requires working inside a manufacturing plant and across various locations within the facility, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures and floor surfaces.
  • You will work in a fast-paced environment with shifting demands and need to adapt to changes in work tasks and conditions.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Regular lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs, crouch, kneel, and perform fine manual manipulation of tools.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by job tasks.
