Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for coordinating the maintenance and repairs of a wide variety of production and facility equipment to minimize downtime and ensure safe, efficient operations. This role oversees preventive maintenance programs, manages inventory and vendor relationships, and leads the maintenance team in alignment with company policies and safety standards. The Maintenance Manager must maintain 24/7 availability for emergency response to critical equipment failures or operational issues. The Maintenance Manager will also lead continuous improvement efforts, equipment reliability initiatives, and support capital project planning.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. (This position is exempt and eligible for a monthly performance bonus, after 30 days, based on plant KPIs.) Relocation assistance is available through a reimbursement program, subject to company policy and approval. Comprehensive benefits package included.
Principal Responsibilities:
Operational & Technical Oversight:
• Coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance for production and facility equipment to ensure minimal downtime.
• Inspect, set up, and operate various production tools and equipment prior to release for production use.
• Monitor water treatment systems, including boiler operations in the corrugator area.
• Take and records utility meter readings regularly.
• Order and manage parts and supplies, including barcode scanning and computerized inventory control.
• Monitor warranties and service agreements; notify relevant personnel of upcoming expiration dates.
• Locate OEMs and aftermarket vendors to ensure competitive pricing and service.
• Oversee contract work and installations by external vendors.
Administrative & Compliance:
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and parts inventory.
• Conduct monthly selective inventory and reconcile with computerized records.
• Assist in evaluating and implementing capital and expense projects.
• Implement and support all company policies, including safety protocols, and housekeeping standards.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and other regulatory standards affecting plant maintenance operations.
Leadership & Communication:
• Report promptly to the General Manager and Plant Manager any issues that may impeded plant operations.
• Lead weekly safety meetings with department personnel.
• Build and maintain high morale within the maintenance team through fairness, consistency, and confidentiality,
• Support employee development through coaching, mentoring, and performance discussions.
• Model professionalism and maintain a high level of emotional intelligence, especially during crisis situations.
• Provide leadership in staffing, training, and performance management for the maintenance team.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, safety, and other teams to support overall plant performance.
Continuous Improvement:
• Maintain and improve a cost-effective preventive maintenance program.
• Actively seek professional growth through seminars, technical training, and relevant coursework.
• Promote continuous improvement practices to enhance efficiency, equipment reliability, and team performance.
• Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 4 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Associate degree or technical training in industrial maintenance or a related filed.
• 5+ years of experience in the corrugated box industry.
• Strong background in electronics, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical maintenance.
