Maintenance Manager

Location: Greater Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Description: A dynamic and innovative Maintenance Manager is needed for a fluid milk and cream plant in Milwaukee, WI. This 1st shift role involves close collaboration with the Plant Engineer to drive innovation and performance through automation and smart technologies. The focus is on Continuous Improvement, automation strategies, and the Management Operating Structure (MOS) to enhance safety, equipment reliability, and product quality. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering, this position offers the chance to lead in a high-impact manufacturing environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain dairy processing production equipment using mechanical and electrical expertise.
  • Lead and manage the maintenance team to ensure effective staffing, training, and retention.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain HVAC, 480V 3-phase motor control circuits, boilers, and related utility systems.
  • Support efficient and reliable plant operations through PLC troubleshooting, automation systems, and control technologies.
  • Optimize asset utilization through scheduled preventative maintenance using CMMS.
  • Implement corrective actions based on key maintenance performance indicators to improve overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Stay updated with industry regulations and codes related to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable laws in both capital project implementation and daily maintenance.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or some college preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in maintenance supervision in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience with maintenance technicians.
  • Experience with food manufacturing equipment, including high-speed rotary fillers, blow mold machines, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • PLC experience, including reading ladder logic and editing (Allen Bradley platform preferred).
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, welding, and machining techniques; ability to support or oversee complex mechanical repairs is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Excel and maintenance-related software (CMMS).
  • Experience with HTST (high-temperature short-time pasteurization) is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and lead others through change.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), union, safety, and workers compensation experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to leverage Continuous Improvement (CI) tools and align with the Management Operating Structure (MOS) to enhance safety, quality, and equipment performance.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and other computer-based applications.
