Maintenance Manager - Food Manufacturing

A leading manufacturer and distributor of food products, located in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, is seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Manager to join our dynamic operations team. This role is responsible for driving the strategic direction and daily execution of all maintenance activities and capital projects within the facility.


The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a continuous improvement mindset to lead a high-performing maintenance team in support of the organization's key goals: safety, quality, productivity, cost efficiency, and sustainability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and continuously improve all aspects of the Maintenance Department to meet or exceed departmental goals and budget targets.
  • Oversee planning and execution of all in-house maintenance and engineering projects; evaluate repair vs. replacement decisions and coordinate work of external contractors when needed.
  • Act as project lead for capital equipment investments, ensuring successful planning, execution, and startup of production and packaging equipment.
  • Support recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management of maintenance team members; partner with supervisors to ensure team development and accountability.
  • Champion a culture of safety by maintaining safe working conditions and ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Manage staffing levels and assist with scheduling to meet the evolving needs of the operation.
  • Approve all maintenance-related purchase orders and vendor invoices; ensure cost-effective sourcing of parts, tools, and services.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on engagement, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality, and Engineering to support plant performance and reliability.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven experience leading maintenance teams in a manufacturing or food processing environment; strong knowledge of GMPs, food safety standards, and preventive maintenance systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects, including startups, capital improvements, and process innovation.
  • Strong understanding of cost drivers within Maintenance and Production functions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, solution-oriented approach.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical documents, equipment schematics, and maintenance software.
