Maintenance Manager Industry: Food Manufacturing

Position Summary:

A leading North American manufacturer in the food manufacturing company is seeking a Senior Manager of Maintenance to oversee and elevate the reliability, performance, and safety of its production operations. This role is responsible for designing and executing preventive maintenance programs, managing capital improvement projects, and ensuring regulatory compliance across all maintenance functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and optimize equipment efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot and oversee repairs of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems.

  • Supervise HVAC and refrigeration (ammonia-based) system installations and maintenance.

  • Manage major equipment overhauls and support long-term reliability improvements.

  • Oversee capital projects in alignment with strategic business plans (1-, 3-, and 5-year horizons).

  • Establish and monitor KPIs for maintenance performance and reliability metrics.

  • Maintain department budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and resource allocation.

  • Lead and promote a culture of continuous improvement focused on efficiency and safety.

  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies and external regulatory standards, including GMP, OSHA, FDA, BRC, and local/state codes.

  • Manage facility infrastructure projects including upgrades, demolition, and space utilization.

  • Coordinate the installation and integration of new production equipment and systems.

  • Supervise and coordinate external contractors and vendors.

  • Support facility compliance in environmental areas such as air and water quality, waste management, and energy efficiency.

  • Assist with inspections and audits from certifying and regulatory bodies.

  • Train plant personnel on the safe and proper use of equipment and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, HVACR, or a related technical field (preferred).

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance leadership experience in a high-speed food or beverage manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and other food safety and regulatory standards.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, and electrical systems.

  • Familiarity with PLCs, preventative maintenance software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience managing budgets, capital projects, and departmental KPIs.

  • Ability to read technical schematics, blueprints, and write reports and SOPs.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus.

  • Occasional travel may be required.
