Job Purpose

Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support in the repair and enhancement of electrical and controls support. Coordinate all assigned activities within the Maintenance Department including, but not limited to, leading the team and ensuring safe, efficient preventive maintenance and service on all equipment and facilities within the plant.

Essential Functions


• Provide technical expertise to the plant; assign work to shift team members as directed by Maintenance Manager or work orders


• Prepare for shift's maintenance activities through effective communication with the previous shift's technicians, leads, and key people within the plant; communicate any changes/instructions and guide the technicians through the shift's activities


• Organize and prioritize work to meet the needs of the plant
• Prepare in advance and facilitate any scheduled preventive maintenance including, but not limited to, advanced ordering of required parts/supplies, ensuring necessary tools/equipment and documentation are available to support the process


• Ensure all parts consumed are properly documented; ensure all maintenance activities are documented in COGZ in a timely manner


• Follow and ensure compliance with all GMP, food safety/safety practices, policies, procedures, and requirements when repairing, replacing, installing and applying preventive maintenance to food processing equipment and while working in processing area


• Ensure all assigned team members are adequately trained in accordance with established guidelines


• Assist in other areas, as required, including providing technical coverage for maintenance functions


• Cover all shifts when needed (e.g., PTO coverage)


• Positively interact with other departments, lines, and shifts


• Support food safety program, quality standards, and legality of manufactured products


• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Competencies)


• Associate's/Bachelor's degree in electronics/maintenance mechanics


• 5+ years of progressive experience and responsibility in maintenance field with electrical skills and knowledge of PLCs


• Mechanical, pneumatic, welding, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance skills


• Industrial DC and 3-Phase power systems to 480VAC experience


• Food manufacturing experience


• LOTO trained


• Operational knowledge of computer software (Excel, Word, Access, AS400, Email, Internet applications, etc.)


• Willingness to complete maintenance PCC training course within one year of assuming position


• Strong decision-making skills with the ability to think critically and solve complex problems


• Excellent skills in the areas of teamwork, motivation, relationship building, and coaching


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
