We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Maintenance Engineer to join our dedicated team in a full-time capacity. You will play a vital role in ensuring our hotel provides a safe and comfortable environment for both guests and staff by performing a variety of technical maintenance tasks with a focus on HVAC and electrical systems, as well as general maintenance throughout the property.
Key Responsibilities:
- HVAC Maintenance and Repair: Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC issues to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
- Electrical Systems Maintenance and Repair: Perform electrical repairs and maintenance, including wiring, lighting, power systems, and other electrical equipment. Diagnose and resolve electrical faults to ensure safety and functionality.
- General Maintenance: Carry out a range of maintenance duties including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating, and general upkeep of the hotel's facilities.
- Preventative Maintenance: Participate in planned preventative maintenance programs, with a focus on HVAC and electrical systems, to ensure the hotel's equipment and systems are operating efficiently and to minimize breakdowns.
- Fault Finding & Repairs: Respond promptly to maintenance requests, diagnose issues, and carry out necessary repairs to guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas, with a priority on HVAC and electrical concerns.
- Health & Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others. Conduct detailed safety checks on HVAC and electrical systems and report any potential hazards.
- Contractor Support: Assist with supervising external contractors when required, particularly those specializing in HVAC or electrical work, ensuring work is completed to a satisfactory standard and in line with hotel requirements.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and any ongoing maintenance issues, with detailed logs of HVAC and electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with other members of the maintenance team and other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Strong technical skills and experience in HVAC (including chillers, boilers, air handling units, VRF systems) and electrical maintenance and repair (including 3-phase power, generators, fire alarm systems, lighting control systems).
- A practical, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Good knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to respond to urgent maintenance requests and work occasional weekends.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Formal qualifications in a relevant trade (e.g., HVAC, electrical).
- Experience with kitchen equipment and/or swimming pool maintenance.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations specific to the hospitality industry.
