Position Summary

The Maintenance Engineer supports a global oleochemical manufacturing facility by ensuring all equipment and machinery are maintained for safe and efficient operation. This role involves installing new systems, troubleshooting faults, performing repairs, and supporting a 24/7 operation. The engineer will also assist in training staff, coordinating with external contractors, and upholding safety and compliance standards in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and routine maintenance of facility equipment.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures and develop action plans for resolution.

  • Participate in and supervise repairs of pumps, gear reducers, seals, conveyors, and more.

  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.

  • Support proper maintenance documentation and reporting procedures.

  • Lead maintenance changes per PSM Management of Change (MOC) standards.

  • Provide hands-on training and technical guidance to maintenance staff.

  • Maintain adequate inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a maintenance engineering role.

  • Experience in the chemical manufacturing industry preferred.

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in mechanical systems including pumps, HVAC, filtration, and heat exchangers.

  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations; hazardous material handling.

  • Skilled in reading technical schematics and using maintenance software tools.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Effective communicator and collaborative team player.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally work off-shift hours.
