An aerospace client is looking for a Machinist who will set up and operate various machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exact tolerances and dimensions.
Location: Beltsville, MD 20705 (On-site)
Position: Machinist
Pay Rate: $28.83/hr. - $36.11/hr. on W2
Duration: 12 months or longer
Schedule: 9x80 A
Shift: 2nd Shift (2pm to 11pm)
Starting on day shift and move to second shift after training.
Responsibilities:
- Machine set-up
- Interpret Blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
- Determine sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of set-up.
- Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
- Measures, marks and scribes' dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
- Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.
- Some machines may be numerically controlled.
- May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other procedures.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years machining experience
- Experience operating CNC machines in an industrial manufacturing setting
- Strong understanding of machining techniques and materials
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with reading and writing CNC programs
- Experience with wire EDM
- Experience with GD&T
