What you'll do The SharePoint and Microsoft 365 Solutions Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization's SharePoint environment and Microsoft 365 ecosystem. This role combines technical administration, solution development, user support, and strategic planning to ensure collaboration platforms effectively meet business needs. You will collaborate closely with business functions, content owners, and users to understand requirements and deliver organization-wide solutions. Working alongside your manager for strategic alignment and resource planning, you'll coordinate with the information security team and help desk staff to resolve issues efficiently. You'll also partner with cross-functional teams including communications for intranet platforms, HR for onboarding processes, records management for compliance policies, and business analysts for process improvements. Additionally, you'll engage with Microsoft support when escalating complex technical challenges, partner with third-party vendors for integrated solutions and add-ons, and work with consultants on specialized implementations or migrations.
You'll make an impact by: SharePoint Administration & Development : - Administering and maintaining SharePoint Online, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability
- Configuring and managing site collections, content databases, and service applications
- Designing and developing custom SharePoint solutions, web parts, and workflows to address specific business requirements
- Implementing information architecture, content types, and metadata strategies
- Troubleshooting and resolving SharePoint technical issues and performance bottlenecks
- Managing user permissions, security groups, and access control
Microsoft 365 Platform Management: - Administering and supporting the Microsoft 365 suite including Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and related services as required
- Implementing and managing Power Platform solutions (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI) that integrate with SharePoint
- Overseeing user account management, licensing, and security settings across M365 services
Solution Design & Implementation: - Analyzing business requirements and translating them into effective SharePoint and M365 solutions
- Designing and implementing intuitive, user-friendly SharePoint sites and portals
- Creating and customizing forms, workflows, and business process automation solutions
- Developing and implementing document management strategies and information governance policies
- Planning and executing SharePoint implementations and upgrades
Project Management & Consultation: - Leading SharePoint and M365 implementation projects from planning through execution
- Providing expert guidance on SharePoint and M365 capabilities, limitations, and best practices
- Developing project plans, timelines, and resource requirements for technology initiatives
- Collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements and ensure solutions meet business needs
Requirements
You'll sweep us off our feet if you: - Have experience designing exceptional user interfaces and experiences (UI/UX) for SharePoint sites
- Can establish and maintain a comprehensive SharePoint and M365 governance framework
- Are skilled at designing and maintaining enterprise taxonomies and managing term stores
- Have experience with workflow development using SharePoint Designer, Visual Studio, and Power Platform
- Can generate comprehensive site collection, site, and list level usage reports for insightful analysis
- Excel at creating engaging end-user training and adoption programs
- Have experience automating SharePoint administrative tasks using PowerShell
- Have experience consolidating sites and migrating content between environments
- Demonstrate a "Swiss Army knife" approach to SharePoint (and M365-comfortable handling everything from infrastructure to solution development and strategic planning)
What you'll need: - A bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, and at least 7 years of relevant experience
- Extensive knowledge of SharePoint Online and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem
- Strong technical skills in SharePoint site design, content management, and workflow development
- Extensive experience managing M365 environments - Exchange, SharePoint and Teams
- Experience with Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
- Strong project management capabilities with ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality SharePoint solutions
- Effective communication skills for stakeholder engagement and user training
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
- Flexibility and resourcefulness when addressing business challenges
- Physical requirements and working conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, read printed materials and a computer screen, communicate in person and over the telephone
