We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse for our client to join their Med Surg team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.



Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrates ability, under direct supervision of a RN, to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population

Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management

Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately

Ability to perform waived testing (point-of-care testing) per Clinical Laboratory's and the patient care unit's policies and procedures

Ability to interpret the results of waived tests; takes appropriate action on waived test results

Ability to interpret results of lab tests; take appropriate action on lab test results

Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition

Follows the five (5) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors

Prepares, hangs, monitors and discontinues IV fluids per scope of practice

Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient history, condition, treatment, responses and assessment of changes

Communications clearly to physicians, staff, charge nurse and CNO Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors

Identifies and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served. Able to interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group

Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; includes family in teaching, as appropriate

Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations and interdepartmental objectives


Leads one or more employees performing similar work; supervises temporary employees and employees who do not supervise; train new employees


Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited LPN program

Current Tennessee Licensed Practical Nurse

Current BLS certification

One year of hospital experience preferred

Basic computer skills

Proficient in interpreting EKG, lab tests, etc.

Ability to read, write and communicate using the English language

Additional languages preferred

Must be able to work under stressful and fast pace situations

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or greater

Must be able to stand/walk for a considerable amount of time of shift

Must be able to practice regular and dependable attendance (see attendance policy)

Must be flexible in work schedule and work weekends and holidays per department policy
