Lower School Receptionist
To begin summer 2025
The Leffell School is a cutting-edge K-12 Jewish independent school serving more than 850 students on two campuses in Westchester County, NY, 30 minutes north of New York City. We are seeking a Lower School Receptionist to begin in summer 2025.
Position Overview:
The Receptionist will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer. The Receptionist will answer incoming calls in the Lower School Campus, and will interact with the faculty, staff, administration, parents and students on a daily basis. The Receptionist will also provide administrative support to the Chief Operating Officer and team.
Responsibilities:
- Operates single or multiple position telephone systems.
- Processes attendance daily.
- Receives and directs callers and visitors to appropriate parties and locations, notifies staff of visitor arrivals.
- Maintains a student sign-in/sign-out log.
- Assists and responds to students and parents questions and concerns.
- Maintaining and overseeing calendar guest list:
- Welcomes visitors and parents and informs the person they are meeting with, and directs the visitors and parents there.
- Responsibility for all incoming and outgoing mail in a timely manner, including mail pickup and delivery, courier services and interoffice mail going to both campuses
- Supports dismissal of students and buses and resolves dismissal issues that require immediate attention:
- Prepares dismissal sheets and distributes them
- Works closely with the dismissal coordinator and the transportation associate to address any issues with buses during dismissal.
- Calls parents to resolve dismissal issues
- Maintains the classroom supply closet
- Prepares the packets for teachers' supply request before the school year starts
- Coordinates lunch volunteers- volunteering schedule and serving during the lunch period
- Create a signup genius list for lunch volunteers registration
- Brainstorm new ideas to develop parent volunteers
- Performs other general administrative support as requested by the Chief Operating Officer.
Qualifications:
- Requires an Associate Degree and a minimum of 2-4 years related experience.
- Ability to work in a high-paced environment
- Excellent orientation to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines
- Microsoft office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Compensation and Benefits:
• Pay Rate: $60,000-$65,000
• Benefits: Generous paid time off, including personal and vacation days, holidays, and reduced work hours during the summer. Health benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, and FSAs. Others include a retirement saving plan (403b) and wellness benefits.
